Before the incident
Employee was working in the repack area for inbound and needed to open a box. So the employee acquired an automatic retracting utility knife which uses a razor. Then the employee placed their left hand on the box and began cutting the tape with the knife. The knife slipped and lacerated the palm of the employees left hand just below the thumb. The laceration was about 1.5 - 2 inches in length. First aid was provided by a member of the medical team and the EHS coordinator in the first aid room
