Before the incident
EMPLOYEE WAS STANDING IN OUR DRY STORAGE 2 DEPT BY SHIPPING AND USING A HAMMER TO KNOCK APART BROKEN DECK BOARDS AND REPAIR PALLETS. THE PALLETS WERE ON THE FLOOR AND HE WAS BENDING OVER.
What happened
EMPLOYEE WAS KNOCKING APART DECK BOARDS ON THE PALLET AND ONE LOOSE BOARD HAD A NAIL IN IT FACING UP AND HE ACCIDENTIALLY STEPPED ON THE BOARD. THE NAIL PUNCTURED THROUGH HIS SHOE AND INTO HIS LEFT FOOT. THE EMPLOYEE CALLED FOR HELP AND TOOK HIS SHOE OFF RIGHT AWAY TO CHECK. THERE WAS MINIMAL BLEEDING AND SORENESS BUT THE EMPLOYEE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL CLINIC TO VERIFY [REDACTED] SHOT CLEAN THE WOUND AND GET AN ANTIBIOTIC TO PREVENT INFECTION FROM THE RUSTY NAIL.
