Before the incident
I was inside of EPS assisting staff members with a patient I turned around to go back inside of the nurses station at EPS Enhanced Patient Safety When I went back inside I was attempting to hold the door open for a staff member but the doors air locking door closer device failed causing the heavy door to slam closed on my thumb which was seated right in between the wall and the door under the doors hinge The door crushed my thumb resulting in loss of feeling in my thumb a laceration located on top of my thumb severe swelling and a loss of range of motion
