I was placing a PIV on a [REDACTED] patient Patient was swaddled except for right hand I was holding his right forearm with my left hand and placing the PIV with my right hand When I attempted to retract the needle I placed my left thumb on top of the patients hand to occlude but felt a prick to my left thumb when Ihit the retract button I continued to secure the IV which appeared to be intact when I performed a saline flush so Im honestly not sure how I got poked
