Before the incident

I gave a [REDACTED] shot to the pts thigh While holding the a gauze over the pts injection site with my left hand I was using my right hand which I used to inject to place the safety cap on the needle After placing the safety cap on the needle I disposed of the needle and took my gloves off After taking my gloves off I sawthat I was bleeding from a small point on my right index finger I washed my hands covered the site with bandaids and notified my charge nurse The pt to which I gave the shot to and got the needle stick from was born via surrogacy My charge nurse made several phone calls to verify whose blood needed to bedrawn whether the baby or the surrogate She was told that the surrogates blood had to be drawn and their labs were sent The baby currently has the surrogates last name Vetsch in the system and I do not know if that will be changed to reflect the legal last name from the biological parents during their hospital stayMy baseline labs were drawn after the incident [REDACTE
