What happened
Employee reports that patient was sitting in a recliner. He had placed the bedpan under the patient while on the chair with assistance of the RN. The patient was leaning forward and unsteady. As the patient was ready to be lifted off the bedpan employee positioned himself on the left side of the patient and the RN was on the right he felt a sharp pain in his lower back and upper left groin. The patient was dead weight and unable to support himself. Patient was lowered back into the recliner. He waited for PT assistance to place him back in bed.
