The planer became clogged with sawdust and needed to be cleared. The EE used an air hose to blow out the planer.

EE shut off the planer and began clearing sawdust before the head stopped spinning. The spinning head caught the blower nozzle causing the EE 's hand to jerk into the planer.

EE sustained an open fracture at the tip of the left thumb above the knuckle. The thumb is intact but badly broken.

EE was blowing sawdust out of the planer with an air hose. EE turned the machine off but did not wait for planer head to stop spinning. The planer head caught the nozzle of the air hose causing it to jerk throwing EE 's left hand into the planer break
