Before the incident
The employee was pulling vermiculite back so the sinker could be dropped into a zinc pan.
What happened
The employee used a wet shovel and turned the shovel downwards when skimming the zinc. The water caused to zinc to pop and the shovel directed the splatter back towards the employee. The employee 's shoes were untied with his pants tucked inside his shoe so when the zinc splattered on his pants it ran down his leg and into the shoe.
