Employee was preparing to relocate material to a desginated work station

Crane operator attempted to lift beam from a horizontal stacked position to a vertical position using Crane [REDACTED]. Operator placed 2 hooks on the east side of the beam on the flange. As the operator was hoisting the crane the operator placed their hand on the material being raised. Due to the position of the beam this allowed the beam to shift off of the stack. Operator had their hand on the material. When the material shifted the material pulled them forward allowing their body to be on the stack where the material was being raised. When the material shifted this caused the hooks to release and allow the material to free fall towards the material 's original position. This allowed the operator to be pinned between the two beams.

Soft tissue contusions involving upper right thigh

Structural steel beam

Employee was struck by falling material causing contusions to right upper leg
