What happened

Standing at the bedside after anesthesia did a caudle block on the patient waiting for confirmation we were done with the block and could turn the patient over. once patient was turned back supine and safe on the bed I went to clean up the anesthesia area from the block as Dr. was busy helping the CRNA. While checking the area for any leftover sharps none were noticed. As I was wrapping up the blue towels and other trash in the blue wrap my right index finger got stuck by the inner sheath from the spinal needle. I washed my hands with warm soapy water and expelled some blood from the puncture site. The hospital 's health occupation nurse and all appropriate people were notified of the incident. Blood drawn off pt and sent for testing.
