After assisting with clearing and resetting the H-Conveyor alongside with another operator upstream the employee turned to their normal station monitoring the shingles as they progressed down the line. As the line resumed operation the employee turned away from their location at the conveyor and placed their gloved left hand on a non-driven transition roller located between two driven rollers. The hand was pulled into the in-running nip point resulting in a crushing injury with visible abrasions and swelling. The employee was able to activate the emergency stop and a nearby operator promptly alerted maintenance personnel. Maintenance responded quickly locked out the system and removed the roller to free the employee’s hand.
