Sitting the Patient

I was assigned to the floor on Gen 6. Then I got floated to his room to sit with the patient in 17. The pt was non verbal but described as redirectable. While sitting the pt their caregiver came to visit. As caregiver spoke with PT about leaving but 'not today ' PT became agitated. The caregiver suggested the pt was agitated due to needing brief changed. Once we got PT to the restroom they became even more aggressive and agitated. The pt began screaming biting and hitting self. I tried to redirect which was unsuccessful. I turned my head to check for my wipes and once I turned back around the pt punched me directly in my face and then hit me again over the top of my head. My head snapped backwards and my vision went black with dots stars in my vision. After my vison cleared I saw the pt hitting caregiver in the face and head as well. We finished getting PT changed and then reported what happened to nurse . Once the caregiver left I reported the incident to the charge nurse on the floor
