Before the incident
Employee was taking pins out of a furnace door that were supporting it in the open position.
What happened
Prior to the injury event a pneumatic cylinder that was used to raise and lower the door had been disconnected from the furnace frame. When the employee released the pins the cylinder dropped with the door pinching the employee 's finger between the cylinder base and the furnace frame.
