COMPLETION OF PATIENT BLOOD DRAW WITH 21G SAF[REDACTED] WING BLOOD COLLECTION SET. ATTEMPT TO ENGAGE SAFETY DEVICE WAS UNSUCCESSFUL BY THIS RN. DURING TRANSPORT OF EQUIPMENT TO SHARPS CONTAINER NEEDLE WAS DISENGAGED AND NEEDLE STICK OCCURRED. RIGHT THUMB KNUCKLE WAS PENETRATED WITH NEEDLE CAUSING BLEEDING. GLOVES WERE REMOVED AND HANDS WERE WASHED WITH SOAP AND WATER. ANTIBACTERIAL HAND SCURB WAS ALSO APPLIED TO BOTH HANDS. BLEEDING CONTROLLED. REPORTED INCIDENT TO CLINICAL MANAGER.
