What happened
Deputy was on duty and traveling westbound on [REDACTED] towards [REDACTED]. He was occupying the right lane of travel. He observed a [REDACTED] van pull out of a parking lot or roadway ahead of me. The driver of the [REDACTED] van occupied the left travel lane heading in the same direction. He was approximately one to two vehicle lengths behind the [REDACTED] van. Suddenly the driver of the van slowed and attempted to make a right turn from the left travel lane onto [REDACTED] [REDACTED]. He applied the brakes but was unable to stop resulting in colliding with the side of the van. After the collision he realized that his lower back was sore and his right knee was numb on the front and back side. Numbness continued down his right shin and into his ankle and foot. Prescribed medication.
