Infiltrating a wound
What happened
This RN was infiltrating patient 's leg laceration and when infiltration was complete I accidentally poked the tip my right middle finger with the needle. I was wearing gloves and it was a very shallow poke but my finger did bleed a little when I removed my glove. I informed the patient of what had happened then performed hand hygiene then informed patient 's provider. Patient was agreeable to this RN drawing his blood to send to the lab due to body fluid exposure.
