Engaging safety on Lovenox

Medication administration to patient room 335 started at [REDACTED]. I was administering [REDACTED] [REDACTED] injection to pt on left arm back with no complications. Upon pulling back subQ needle while holding it back with my right hand I reached with my left hand to activate the safety mechanism. However I moved fast and was not looking at the needle and I accidentally stuck my left thumb through the glove. When I took my glove off I noticed it punctured my skin and there was scant amount of blood. I rinsed it with water and it was bleeding slowly for roughly 5 minutes. I then rinsed it with water and soap and applied gauze and tegaderm on it. I told my charge RN who notified nursing supervisor. I called Employee Health and left a voice message. I went to have my baseline labs at Inpatient Lab drawn around [REDACTED] and provided them the required information. I returned to work around [REDACTED].
