What happened
While I was taking care of ptpt 's son gave me an empty Fluorouracil elastomeric infusion pump with Huber needle still attached. The elastomeric infusion pump was wrapped in a white plastic shopping bag when I took it from pt 's son. Once I grabbed it I felt a sharp scratch on my left palmer thumb and I saw the Huber needle wasn 't retracted and it was still sticking out through the white shopping bag and it punctured my glove and left a sharp scratch on my skin. I didn 't see blood on my thumb but I felt a sharp scratch and when I examined my skin I saw a quarter inch laceration from the sharp needle.
