What happened
I de-accessed patients mediport with correct technique of engaging safety mechanism while taking needle out and placed it on table text to me while finishing taking off patients dressing. When grabbing mediport needle to dispose in the sharps accidently touched needle part of mediport and safety mechanism was not fully engaged even though correct technique was used. Needle part of the mediport lightly punctured right index finger.
