RT (self report) was about to stick patient with ABG needle to obtain specimen. Patient did not obtain specimen and pulled out of patient 's right wrist and began to put safety needle cap on. RT felt sharp pain on fingertip and realized that the soiled needle had come out of the safety cap and struck RT. House supervisor notified and lab work drawn on RT and patient.
