Before the incident

AHG Bandana Square [REDACTED] sustained a contaminated needlestick to L index finger. The EE is not sure if the needlestick occurred prior to giving an influenza IM injection to the patient or if it occurred after giving the injection. The EE had placed the safety shield up prior to giving the vaccine to the patient. After the pt left and the EE was charting the vaccine given with their gloves on noticed some blood inside their glove when the took the glove off notices there was a puncture mark. Treating for both HCW to pt and pt to HCW.

What happened
