Before the incident
Employee states they attempted to collect a lab sample from the patient. The blood stopped coming through the tube so they were removing the hub to place a syringe on the tubing. When Employee removed the plastic portion of the hub the hub that penetrates into the blood tube was stuck. Employee attempted to remove that portion when their finger slipped and caused the needle to go through the rubber and penetrated their finger.
