Midline laparotomy was performed rapidly. Scalpel tip injury was sustained to the tip of the right thumb of Dr [REDACTED] with active brisk bleeding. Immediately a sterile lap sponge was applied to the thumb and pressure applied. After this Dr [REDACTED] scrubbed out of the operation to attend to his injury. Self-administered first aid.
