I was drawing blood cultures.
What happened
I had finished drawing pt 's second set of blood cultures and slid the cover over the butterfly needle. I was holding pressure on the puncture site and turned to set the butterfly and tubing behind me on the counter. I felt a poke and looked to see that the sleeve had not fully covered the tip of the butterfly needle but was sticking out. It had punctured my third right hand third digit through my glove and was bleeding.
