Both the analyst in training and the trainer were present throughout the procedure. During the process they reported detecting a chemical odor and the analyst in training experienced respiratory discomfort and pain during normal breathing. The analyst in training has a known history of asthma. The lab was evacuated immediately. The analyst in training was evaluated at the occupational health clinic and received temporary work restrictions due to exacerbation of asthma symptoms.
