Before the incident
Employee was burned on the right hand while reaching near active hot melt purge to clear debris stringers on the Express line in [REDACTED]. Hot melt adhesive was being extruded at 325F for a coating experiment. Employee attempted to remove adhesive with other hand (left hand) as a reaction and this caused additional burns on the opposite hand. Employee was not wearing heat protective gloves. Employee ran hands under cold water and removed the cooled adhesive. Another employee in the area contacted EHS to report the burn as it was initially deemed minor and not emergent. Upon EHS arrival it was assessed and a medical ERT callout was initiated.
