A 2 person team was engaged in lifting a 5788 lb. pole out of a galvanizing kettle via crane. Injured employee was cleaning frozen drips off the pole base
What happened
The pole being extracted was most likely 6-7 ' above the level of the zinc when the chain used for lifting snapped. This failure caused a splash of hot zinc which struck employee
