He was using a hand held wet pneumatic driven polishing tool with a diamond blade trimming an inside corner on quartz.
What happened
The diamond blade bound in the saw cut and pulled his hands forward causing an impact with an adjacent corner of the countertop.

The outside of his right index finger - just below the 2nd knuckle received a laceration about 3 4 -inch long - parallel to the knuckle.

A near by corner of the same piece of quartz he was working on caused the laceration when the tool bound up the pulled his hands forward.
