Before the incident
I was drawing a pt with a straight needle vacutainer. I was performing the blood draw with my right hand holding the needle and my left hand keeping the pt 's skin taut.
What happened
As I was pulling the needle out I kept my left hand close to the insertion site and my right hand jerked to the left before I could cap the needle resulting in a stick to my left pointer finger.
