Before the incident
The employee [REDACTED] was sitting on a rolling stool in his assigned work area within the fabrication shop while working on job 23754-03 at a forming table. As he attempted to readjust the stool’s position while remaining seated one of the wheels became caught in an indentation in the concrete floor causing the stool to tip over. As a result the employee lost balance and fell backward making contact with the back side of a nearby Sterli machine and sustaining a lumbar spine injury.
What happened
While sitting on a rolling stool in his assigned work area the employee attempted to readjust his position. As he did so one of the stool’s wheels became caught in an indentation in the concrete floor causing the stool to tip over. The employee lost balance and fell backward striking the back side of a nearby Sterli machine. As a result he sustained a lumbar spine sprain experiencing pain stiffness and radiating discomfort down his left leg which caused difficulty walking and a limp.

The employee sustained a sprain of the ligaments in the lumbar spine (S33.5XXA). The injury resulted in stiffness reduced mobility and radiating pain from the lower back to both hips and down the left leg causing a limp.
