Employee was working as an operator on Galvanizing area 1 As part of his line monitoring responsibilities the employee climbed the stairs to ensure none of the lines were crossing The employee noticed a line out of position near lay head number 2 At the time he was not wearing proper PPE using rubber inner gloves rather than the required heavy gloves made available by Davis Wire Instead of using the tool specifically intended to safely readjust wire position the employee attempted to reset the wire using his rubber gloved hand contrary to Davis Wire policy his instructions and safe practices The hot running wire caught the employees rubber gloved hand and pulled it into a pinch point injuring the top half of his left pinkie and lacerating his left ring finger
