Before the incident
The employee was operating Windak 5 in Plant 6 running a 72 reel of red 500 KCMIL AL wire While feeding the wire into the reel the employee noticed a bad lay and attempted to correct it After stopping the machine with the light curtain the employee created slack in the wire held it down with the right hand and reached for the control panel to jog the reel During this action the employees right pinky finger was pinched between the wires causing skin to be pulled off when they withdrew their hand
