Before the incident
The employee tuned to his right to reach for the scanner gun that was lying beside the operator seat.
What happened
After the employee picked up the scanner he turned to his left to face forward and was sprayed in the face with hydraulic fluid due to a hose line failure. The employee reported that fluid went into his eyes.
Injury or illness
The associate immediately used the emergency eyewash station to remove fluid from his eyes and about the face. He felt fine afterwards and went home to shower and put on a fresh change of clothes. The associate developed irritation and a small amount of eyelid swelling in the left eye over the next two days.
