She was assisting a resident who had difficulty using their legs during a transfer. The resident began attempting to sit before fully reaching the intended surface.

The resident attempted to sit mid‑air forcing her to suddenly hold the resident’s full 141‑lb body weight. After completing several transfers she developed pain that began in her lower back and later radiated to her upper back.

She sustained musculoskeletal strain to her lower back which later spread upward toward her upper back. The injury was caused by the resident’s sudden weight load during transfer.
