Before the incident
Employee was operating a 4-1 2 angle grinder to finish grind welds on the door of a blast cabinet.
What happened
Employee was operating a 4 12Employee had to reach and hold the grinder at an extended arm length at roughly upper shoulder level to reach the spot behind ground. The grinding disk caught deep on the material being ground and kicked back towards the employee striking the left side of his neck just below the chin. Employee suffered a laceration about 1-1 2 to 2 long. Laceration was an oozing wound no spurting of blood. The wound was covered with gauze and direct pressure applied. AIG Nurse triage was called prior to sending the employee to Concentra for evaluation and further treatment.
