What happened
RN giving patient subcutaneous insulin patient is on vent RN made fold of skin on patient 's abdomen with left hand and gave injection with right hand. As RN was removing the needle patient began to cough and abdomen moved and insulin needle pricked left thumb of RN. RN wearing gloves immediately attempted to encourage bleeding and cleaned with antiseptic.
