What happened
I was straight sticking patient for labs ordered. Patient is from a local psych facility and was extremely combative and uncooperative. patient required multiple staff members to hold patient while I attempted the blood draw. After blood sample was collected I removed the needle. When I attempted to put the guard up over the needle the spiked end that was resting on my right palm pierced my hand. I immediately ran hot water over puncture wound and scrubbed with soap.
