A third party driver was distracted (dropped a cigarette and was picking it up off the floorboard of their vehicle) and collided with the company vehicles that were separating the workers from the active traffic. The collision caused the arrow board being towed by the company vehicle to be thrown in the direction of the worker and struck the worker. Police were on scene as part of the traffic control.
