Lifting and transferring patient into a dependent lift to place in wheelchair for dialysis.
What happened
While assisting with repositioning a patient in order to attach a sling to the Hoyer lift I experienced a sudden severe sharp pain in my left lower back. The pain radiated into my left my hip groin and medupper back. This occurred during the adjustment of the patient 's position. The pain persisted for the remainder of my shift. Later in the shift I bent over to assess a chest tube and had significant difficulty standing back up due to the pain.
