Employee was disposing of a sharp and when she opened the sharps container an needle came out and poke her.

RN was giving a patient an IV medication. The RN was trying to put the blunt needle in the sharps container in room 5 in the ER. The sharps container opened and a 10 mL syringe with a green needle was connected and flung out and pierced my right thumb.
