Before the incident
Checking patient 's blood glucose
What happened
While in the CT department an ER staff member was attempting to check an ER patient 's blood glucose between scans. During the process the patient 's blood splashed onto the staff member after the puncture contaminating her left side of her face (left eye) her shirt and her badge. The staff member immediately used the eye wash station and reported to the ER where bloodwork and a urine drug screen were performed. Blood was also drawn from the patient for testing.
