Before the incident
Drawing the blood. During the phlebotomy process the patient was moving around while the needle was inserted in the right hand. The needle came out of the hand and punctured the left pinky finger as it dislodged. The phlebotomist instantly noticed blood from the puncture site and immediately went to the sink to milk and wash the area with soap and water. The incident was immediately reported to the patient 's nurse.
