Before the incident
The employee reached over a guard rail to flip up the bottom of the paper wrap on a unit of lumber to see if the unit was triple banded while the unit was advancing on the outfeed chains.
What happened
When the employee reached under the paper wrap on the back side of the unit with his left hand the tip of the employees left ring finger went under the advancing chain in between the sprocket and chain way. The chain pulled employees ring finger in between the chain and the chain way amputating the tip of the ring finger.
