Technician was changing out the capper to lane 5. He climbed onto the smaller right stationary step but did not pull down the main folding steps upon entering the [REDACTED]. As the technician disconnected the airline unclamped the part and as he reached to remove the capper from the center lane #5 his footing slipped. He then fell forward onto the manifold and hit the right side of his lower rib area.

Technician footing slipped on folding step that was not engaged. Technician fell forward and hit the right side of his rib as he was reaching inside of equipment. He noticed there was a bump on his side and the soreness began to be more painful as time continued.
