Operator was working at the saw on the 3850-press cutting tubes.

The saw was nearing completion of a tube when the operator observed a “hot chip ember” come off the saw blade. Operator then cleared the fines away from the blade and was depositing them in the fines container bucket when a second “hot chip” came off the blade and into the open fines bucket igniting the fines that had been collected. A flash fire occurred the operator moved back away attempting to get away from the flames but the lower abdominal area was burned from the flash.

Thermal burn to the abdomen that required medical treatment and days away from work.
