Breaking down cardboard

Associate was removing the top pieces off the corrugated boxes about 4 pallets total. They had grabbed 4 large pieces of cardboard that are about 2ftx3ft each. Associate was attempting to fold the cardboard up to fit in the gaylords better. Associate then started stepping on cardboard to condense it. While stepping on the cardboard one of the pieces slipped out and smacked the associate’s right ankle in the vein area. This caused the veins to swell bruise. Associate provided with first aid (ice pack and bandage wrap) but refused it. Associate decided to just walk it off and continued back to work. The shift supervisor monitored the incident throughout the remainder of the shift. On [REDACTED] Associate decided to go to emergency room after working their shift due to pain from the injury on [REDACTED].
