Removing and replacing struts on vehicles

Was working on a vehicle and removing an integrated strut. While trying to put in a new strut you need to put some force into re-engaging the piece during that time my left ring finger got pinched resulting in a laceration to the inside of the finger EE was wearing provided work gloves.
