Demonstrating how to open elevator door

Employee was demonstrating a service mode operation of the elevator to fellow co-worker. When the elevator is in service mode you must open the doors manually. Employee was looking up into the elevator and stepped into the elevator the elevator wasn 't there. Employee fell approximately 7-8ft. Employee received several injuries; he hit his head causing him to lose his glasses his mouth was bleeding he had cuts on his right hand wrists pain in his right leg and his shirt was ripped. Employee was a little disoriented from the fall but was able to pull himself out. He was able to change his shirt get bandaged up and reported the incident to his supervisor.
