The employee stated just before the incident occurred he lifted a 40lbs case of chicken and twisted at his waistline to place the case on his dolly During his downward motion to place the case on the dolly he felt something stretch and felt a burning pain in his lower back on the lefthand side Still bent over he paused placed his hand on his back and remained still for a period Then while still in pain he was able to slowly straighten his back and return to an upright position

On [REDACTED] at approximately [REDACTED] US FOODS delivery driver [REDACTED] was making a delivery at Menards Cajun Grocery [REDACTED] when the incident occurred The employee stated just before the incident occurred he lifted a 40lbs case of chicken and twisted at his waistline to place the case on his dolly During his downward motion to place the case on the dolly he felt something stretch and felt a burning pain in his lower back on the lefthand side Still bent over he paused placed his hand on his back and remained still for a period Then while still in pain he was able to slowly straighten his back and return to an upright position The driver then completed eight more stops and had to stop due to his increasing pain The incident did not involve other employees The injury was due to ergonomic risk factors The driver twisted instead of pivoting The driver mentioned he had to twist to lift the case over a pallet that was positioned in front of the pallet holding the case of chicken T
