Bending a 1 inchrigid conduit with a manual bender.

Employee was attempting to bend a 1 inch rigid conduit with a Greenlee manual pipe bender. While applying heavy downward force on the handle of the pipe bender the employees right foot came off of the ground approximately 10-12 inches due to force being applied. While doing this his hands slipped off the bender handle causing him to start to fall. He tried to correct the fall and came down with his right foot tilted outward. He heard and felt a loud pop in his right ankle.
